Call to Action - Telehealth Extension in Jeopardy

Sarah Hohman, Director of Government Affairs, NARHC

12/19/2024

We shared with you yesterday that a bipartisan agreement was reached and text released on an end-of-year package that contains short-term government funding (until March 14) and much more, including a 2-year extension of Medicare telehealth flexibilities with a fix to RHC-specific telehealth policy that we've been advocating on for years.

This deal is very much in jeopardy. What began as hardline conservative opposition to the size of the package and other aspects unrelated to the healthcare provisions, spurred widespread Republican resistance to the bill, including by Elon Musk, President-elect Donald Trump, and Vice President-Elect J.D. Vance.

However, this is still a critical time for policy extenders initially included in that package, including telehealth, National Health Service Corps funding, the delay of Medicare funding cuts, and more, which will expire on December 31 without Congressional action.

I highly encourage you to take 30 seconds to send this message to your Members of Congress. The deadline is here, these flexibilities will expire on December 31 without Congressional action, and your Members of Congress need to hear from you about the importance of these policies.

Thank you to those of you who have made your voices heard so far!
