Medical Telehealth Flexibilities Extended Through September 30
Mo Sullivan, Government Affairs Associate, NARHC
Dear RHC Community, Just hours before a government shutdown was set to take effect last weekend, the Senate passed a seven-month Continuing Resolution (CR) on Friday evening (passed by the House earlier in the week), ensuring federal funding through the end of the fiscal year on September 30. The CR includes extensions for several healthcare policies, notably maintaining current medical telehealth flexibilities through September 30, 2025. This extension allows RHCs to continue billing for G2025 and delays the occasional in-person requirements for mental health services provided via telehealth. Additionally, it extends originating site flexibilities, allowing patients to continue receiving telehealth services from their homes and other locations. While this extension is important for continued patient access it perpetuates a payment policy that NARHC has advocated against where RHCs are paid under a special payment rule, and fee-for-service providers receive payment parity. Thank you to all in the RHC community who participated in our recent telehealth campaign, sending 1,092 messages to the Hill as we approached this latest extension. We’ll continue to need you to make your voice heard in several other campaigns this year! NARHC first shared this telehealth update last Friday evening on the NARHC forum, which is the most effective way to receive timely updates from NARHC’s DC team. If you haven’t joined us on that platform yet, we encourage you to do so here. With any questions, please contact NARHC’s Director of Government Affairs, Sarah Hohman, at Sarah.Hohman@narhc.org. |
