Certification Program

Certified Rural Health Clinic Professional
Program Requirements

Prior to signing up for this course it is important to know what is required once you become certified. Our certification is unique in that it is the only certification nationwide that specializes in rural health clinic rules and regulations. Being that the rural health clinic program has to meet certain federal guidelines, it is important to distinguish our certification and set it apart from other management certifications offered elsewhere.

It is necessary to be aware of what will be required should you become certified so you are able to plan accordingly to meet these requirements. NARHC feels strongly that it is important to demonstrate the continued learning specific to the rural health clinic program through continuing education as well as in person NARHC Conference attendance.

What Are the Requirements to Remain Certified?

Your CRHCP Certification is good for 2 calendar years beginning the year after you certify. To maintain your certification you must:

  • Complete 8 hours of continuing education through our approved vendors OR successfully pass the current session exam
  • Pay a $75 maintenance fee
  • Attend a NARHC Conference in the year your certification is set to expire

*The continuing education and maintenance fee can be done anytime within the 2 year maintenance period.

*NEW* 8 hours of Continuing Education

These hours do not include the NARHC Conference that is required as part of your maintenance requirements. These 8 hours can be done anytime throughout the 2 year maintenance period.

NARHC Conference Attendance

This requirement does not count towards your 8 hours of continuing education. The NARHC conferences are offered bi-annually, both in the Spring and Fall. NARHC Conferences are not offered virtually; you will be required to travel to an in person conference the year your certification is set to expire.

Maintenance Fee

The maintenance fee of $75 dollars can be paid anytime within the 2 year maintenance period.

These requirements reset every 2 years. You will be able to login to the CRHCP Maintenance Requirements Dashboard at anytime to review your requirements and submit proof of completion.

Why Is An In Person Conference Attendance Required?

We understand this is a heavy lift, however attending this conference allows the attendee to have dedicated time for learning. Many studies have shown that in person learning has a higher rate of retention levels, as well as networking opportunities than virtual events. While we appreciate the time and financial constraints this may put on those who choose to become certified, it is part of this certification program and must be understood that by registering and becoming certified, you are aware of this requirement.

EXAMPLE:

Learner registers for the course in Spring 2024. They successfully pass the exam and become certified. Their maintenance period starts January 1, 2025 and expires December 31, 2026. There is nothing required of them for the remainder of 2024. Beginning in January 2025, they can start to meet the requirements of the 8 hours of continuing education as well as pay the maintenance fee. These 2 requirements must be completed in full by December 31, 2026. In 2026, they will choose from either the NARHC Spring or Fall Institute to attend. Now that all requirements are met, their certification is good for another 2 years. The new maintenance period will begin January 1, 2027 and the requirements reset and need to be met again.
