How long do you have to find a new medical director when yours resigns? Are you able to work without one? Do you have to have a interim one? How does it affect the payors? Any information or where to find the information would be helpful.

Good Afternoon! This is discussed on page 46 of State Operations Manual Appendix G. While there is not a waiver available if you are to lose the MD/DO operating as your medical director, CMS will afford "reasonable time" to come back into compliance. Other flexibilities include using a locum tenens. More details on all of this is included in Appendix G but please let me know if you have other questions. 3/28/2024 @ 2:07:00 PM

Hi Sarah, So, our MD put in his notice and his last day is April 22nd. They have made an offer to someone else for the MD position (but we have yet to hear back). I read Appendix G and what I think I got from it was that there is no form to submit if you lose your MD or no longer have one. However, you must be able to prove your are actively looking for one? If we are unable to find an acting MD, we must find a temp/interim that will stay for a minimum of 6 months and then must submit the proper documentation to my state agency/CMS?
